The High Point Ballet's mission is to be an integral part of the local arts community by producing classical, neo-classical and contemporary dance performances, providing pre-professional training for aspiring artists, and creating educational opportunities.  We strive to serve as an arts resource organization for the public and private schools and community including minority and disadvantaged students.  
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
History
High Point Ballet, the vision of Founder and Executive Director, Rita, Taylor, held its debut performance in 1987.  Comprised of professional and pre-professional members, the Company, a funded affiliate of the High Point Area Arts Council, is a Performing Member of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association.  The vision of the Company has been to create a diverse repertoire encompassing a wide array of technical and theatrical elements of dance.
                                                                                                             
Celebrating its twentieth season, High Point Ballet provides a vast repertoire of classical and contemporary dance works as well as arts education programs for all.  Currently, over 200 members of the Company have gone on to such noted schools and companies as North Carolina School of the Arts, Kansas City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, School of American Ballet, Boston Conservatory, Joffrey Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Ballet Met, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
                                                                                                                 
Performing Members
High Point Ballet strives to and excels in provide an encouraging, positive, and inspiring environment for all aspiring dancers. Performing members are eligible for participation in all major performances as well as several festivals and conferences held throughout the year.  Members benefit from training with award winning choreographers, professional performers, and seasoned technical and creative staff from throughout the nation. In addition, masters classes in all forms of dance are offered to members.      
                                                                                                                 
Annual performing member auditions are held typically on the third weekend in March, (Next audition:  March 15th, 2008), and on a case-by-case basis.  Membership requirements and associated obligations are available upon request by calling 336-889-2480.
